Abstract

We present a genome assembly from a female specimen of <i>Triturus cristatus</i> (great crested newt; Chordata; Amphibia; Caudata; Salamandridae). The genome sequence has a total length of 22,324.62 megabases. Most of the assembly (98.78%) is scaffolded into 12 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.54 kilobases.
