A chromosome-level genome assembly of Wurfbainia villosa (Zingiberaceae)
Abstract
Wurfbainia villosa is a well-known medicinal plant widely distributed in southern China and Southeast Asia. Its dried fruits, known as Fructus Amomi in traditional Chinese medicine, are commonly used for treating gastrointestinal disease. In this study, the de novo chromosome-level genome assembly was generated for this diploid plant. The assembled genome was approximately 2,731.09 Mb in length, with a contig N50 of 30.23 Mb. Approximately 99.91% of the assembled sequences were anchored onto 24 pseudochromosomes. A total of 42,713 genes were annotated, along with 88.83% of repetitive elements. These genomic resources provide valuable foundations for future research on active component biosynthesis, functional genomics, and DNA-informed breeding of W. villosa.
